What we do

Relaxed walks for people who need the city to go quiet

MagicRiverbend organises gentle weekend walks and nature outings so busy Tokyo people can step out of the week and back into the open air. Nothing competitive, nothing rushed.

Every outing is planned around parks, riverbanks and pockets of green space you can reach by train. We keep groups small and friendly, the pace comfortable, and the conversation easy. You walk, you breathe, you notice the season turning — and you go home lighter than you arrived.

How a day flows

The rhythm of a typical outing

New to us? Here is exactly what a weekend outing looks like from start to finish, so there are no surprises on the day.

  1. 01

    Meet at the station gate

We gather at a named ticket gate about fifteen minutes before the start. A leader in a bright band waits there, checks names, and helps anyone who is running late find the group.

  2. 02

    A quick welcome circle

Before we set off we introduce the route, the pace and the rest stops. First-timers say hello, and we pair anyone walking alone with friendly company for the day.

  3. 03

    Walk, with proper pauses

We keep an unhurried pace and stop whenever there is something worth looking at. No one is left behind, and the back of the group always has a leader with it.

  4. 04

    An easy gathering after

We finish near a cafe or an open patch of grass for an optional, relaxed get-together. Stay for a drink and a chat, or head home whenever you like.

Before you come

What to bring on a weekend walk

You do not need special gear to join us. A little sensible preparation keeps the whole day comfortable, whatever the season.

  • Comfortable shoes. Trainers or light walking shoes you already know are kind to your feet over a few kilometres.
  • Water to drink. A small bottle is plenty. There are taps and shops along most routes to top up.
  • A light layer. A thin jacket for wind by the river, or a hat and sunscreen for the warmer months.
  • A simple snack. Something small for the rest stop, especially on the longer treks where we break for a picnic.

In their words

I signed up on a tired Friday expecting to force myself out. Instead I spent Saturday morning laughing with strangers by the river and came home feeling like the whole weekend had reset. I have not missed an outing since.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Not very. Our gentle strolls suit anyone who can walk comfortably for a couple of kilometres on flat ground. The longer treks are clearly marked so you can choose what feels right.

Light rain rarely stops us, and we always share a weather note the evening before. If conditions are unsafe we postpone and email everyone who signed up right away.

Many outings are free thanks to our park partners. The bookable experiences range from a small fee for a morning loop to a modest charge for a half-day trek, which covers the guide and a welcome at the end.

Absolutely. The gentle park strolls are great for families, and our welcome lead looks after first-timers from the moment you arrive. Most people turn up on their own and leave with a few new friends.
