Who we are

A quieter way to spend your weekends outdoors

MagicRiverbend plans unhurried walks and nature outings across Tokyo and the valleys beyond it, so that a free Saturday turns into something you actually remember.

How it began

Started on a riverbank, carried on from there

We began in 2019 as four friends who kept meeting at the same bend of the Tama River on Sunday mornings. The routes were scribbled on the back of train tickets, the pace was slow, and nobody was selling anything. People we did not know started walking with us, and the scribbles became proper maps.

Today a small team of local guides runs weekend outings for anyone who wants to trade a screen for a trail. We keep groups small, we keep the walking gentle, and we still finish near water whenever the map allows it.

What a weekend looks like

Short enough to be easy, long enough to feel earned

The way we guide

Local people, local knowledge, no rush

Every guide lives within an hour of the routes they lead. They know which park gate opens early, where the plum trees flower first, and which bench catches the afternoon sun. That is the kind of detail no app will give you.

  • Groups kept small so nobody walks alone
  • Routes rated by effort, not by distance alone
  • A rest stop near water on every full-day walk

What we hold to

Three things we will not trade away

Principle 01

Leave it as we found it

We carry out what we carry in, stay on marked paths, and never push a season faster than it wants to go.

Principle 02

Everyone keeps up

The group moves at the pace of its most careful walker. Nobody is left behind at a junction or hurried over a hill.

Principle 03

A weekend is enough

No multi-day expeditions. Our walks start and end within a day, so you are home for dinner and rested by Monday.

Come along

Your first walk is the easiest one to say yes to

Pick a Saturday, send us a message, and we will suggest a route that fits how far you feel like walking. No membership, no kit list longer than a water bottle and a good pair of shoes.
