Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies are, which ones MagicRiverbend uses on this website, and how you can manage them at any time.

Last updated 1 January 2026

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember your actions and preferences over time, so you do not have to re-enter them each time you return. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, work in comparable ways, and where this policy refers to cookies it means all of them together.

2. Why we use them

We use cookies to keep the site working as you move between pages, to remember choices such as the area of Tokyo you were browsing, and to understand in aggregate which walks and pages people find most useful. This helps us plan better routes and present them more clearly. We do not use cookies to build a detailed profile of you across other websites.

3. Essential cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function. They remember your cookie choices, keep your session secure while you complete a booking, and help balance traffic so the site stays available. Because the site cannot work properly without them, these cookies do not require your consent and cannot be switched off through our settings panel.

4. Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies collect information about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how long people spend on them. The data is aggregated and does not identify you individually. We use it to see which walks attract interest and where visitors have trouble finding what they need. These cookies are set only if you allow them.

5. Preference cookies

Preference cookies remember choices you make to give you a smoother visit, such as the region you last looked at or whether you have dismissed a notice. They are a convenience rather than a necessity, and you can decline them without losing access to any walk on the site.

6. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by the providers who help us run the site, such as our analytics and booking partners. These are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of those providers. We work only with partners who commit to protecting your data, and we limit the information they can access to what their service requires.

7. How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period, which varies according to the purpose of the cookie, so that your choices can be remembered on return visits. No cookie we use is kept longer than is necessary for its stated purpose.

8. Managing cookies on this site

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the settings option in the cookie notice at the bottom of the page. Opening it again lets you turn analytics and preference cookies on or off. Your selection is saved and applied immediately across the site.

9. Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies through their settings. You can usually choose to be warned before a cookie is stored or to refuse cookies altogether. Please note that if you block essential cookies, some parts of the site, such as the booking process, may not work as intended.

10. What we actually store at the moment

Right now MagicRiverbend’s website does not use analytics, advertising or social tracking cookies at all. When you answer the cookie banner, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under a key that starts with “wh_consent_”, together with the time you made it. That record never leaves your device and contains nothing about you personally.

If we decide to measure which weekend outings people look at — the gentle park strolls versus the half-day treks — the tool will only start once you have allowed analytics in the settings panel.

11. Fonts from Google’s servers

The typefaces on these pages are loaded from Google Fonts. Each time a page opens, your browser asks Google’s servers for the font files, and Google sees your IP address and browser type as part of that request. No cookie is created, and Google says it does not use the data for advertising. If you prefer to avoid the request, most browsers can be set to block remote fonts and the pages will fall back to your system fonts.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy when we add new features or when the law changes. The current version is always the one published here, and the date above shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to check back from time to time.

13. Contact us

If you have any questions about how we use cookies, write to MagicRiverbend, 3-3-2 Kamezawa, Sumida-ku, Tokyo 130-0014, or call us on 03-3625-3523. We are happy to explain anything in this policy in plain terms.
